NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Daily Recap: Blackhawks Take Game 1

Yesterday in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Western Conference Finals got underway between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings in Chicago.

*Los Angeles Kings – 1 Chicago Blackhawks – 3 (Blackhawks lead series 1-0)

*Corey Crawford made 25 saves in victory while the Blackhawks got goals from Brandon Saad, Duncan Keith, and Jonathan Toews to take game one from the Kings. Saad opened the scoring for the Blackhawks, and, after a disallowed goal by Toews, the Kings tied the game on a goal by Tyler Toffoli early in the second period. Midway through the second though, Keith beat Kings netminder Jonathan Quick to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead. Toews added an insurance marker late in the third period. The Kings power play went 0 for 2 while the Blackhawks cashed in on one of their two power play opportunities. The Blackhawks remain perfect at home in the NHL playoffs, pushing their record to 7-0 with this victory. Game two is in Chicago on Tuesday.
