Last night in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins met in game seven while the Chicago Blackhawks looked to close out the Minnesota Wild on the road.
New York Rangers – 2 Pittsburgh Penguins -1 (Rangers win series 4-3)
*The New York Rangers won their third straight playoff game behind Henrik Lundqvist‘s 35-saves and a second period power play goal by Brad Richards. With the victory, Lundqvist set an NHL record with five straight game seven victories. Sidney Crosby finished the seven game series with one goal and two assists as the Penguins blew a 3-1 series lead. The Rangers advance to the NHL Conference Finals for the second time in three seasons.
Chicago Blackhawks – 2 Minnesota Wild – 1 (OT) (Blackhawks win series 4-2)
*For the first time in the NHL playoffs, the Minnesota Wild lost at home. Corey Crawford made 34 saves, including five in overtime, and the ever clutch Patrick Kane scored just before the halfway point of overtime to push the Blackhawks back into the NHL Conference Finals for a second straight year.
