NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Daily Recap: Habs Force Game 7, Ducks Take Lead

Last night in NHL Stanley Cup Playoff action, the Montreal Canadiens looked to avoid elimination at home against the Boston Bruins, while the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings met in a pivotal game five.

Boston Bruins – 0 Montreal Canadiens – 4 (Series tied 3-3)

*Carey Price post a 26-save shutout while Montreal got two goals from Thomas Vanek and a goal and an assist from Max Pacioretty to beat the Bruins and stave off elimination. Tuukka Rask made 24 saves in defeat while Jarome Iginla had a game high six shots on goal for the Bruins. Game seven will be Wednesday in Boston.

Los Angeles Kings – 3 Anaheim Ducks – 4 (Ducks lead series 3-2)

*The Ducks scored three goals in the second period, including two by Devante Smith-Pelly, to push the Kings to the brink of elimination. John Gibson made 39 saves in the victory. The Kings got two goals from Marian Gaborik, but only 20 saves on 24 shots from Jonathan Quick. The Ducks victory was the first win by the home team in this series.
