Last night in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, the New York Rangers once again looked to stave off elimination from the Pittsburgh Penguins while the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks met in a pivotal game five.
Pittsburgh Penguins – 1 New York Rangers – 3 (Series tied 3-3)
*The New York Rangers managed to force a game seven thanks to goals from Martin St. Louis, Carl Hagelin, and Derick Brassard and 36 saves from Henrik Lundqvist. Brandon Sutter was the only Penguins play to put the puck in the net. The Penguins held a 3-1 series and will host game seven on Tuesday.
Minnesota Wild – 1 Chicago Blackhawks – 2 (Blackhawks lead series 3-2)
*Jonathan Toews scored 4:33 into the third period to break a 1-1 tied and Corey Crawford made 14 third period saves to give the Blackhawks the win at home. Bryan Bickell scored the other goal for the Blackhawks while Erik Haula potted the only goal for the Wild. Minnesota will look to avoid elimination at home, where they haven’t lost all postseason.
