NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Daily Recap: Bruins Take Lead, Ducks Even Series

Last night in NHL Stanley Cup Playoff action, the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens met in a pivotal game five while the Anaheim Ducks looked to even their series in Los Angeles.

Montreal Canadiens – 2 Boston Bruins – 4 (Bruins lead series 3-2)

*Carl Soderberg scored his first goal of the playoffs and added two assists while Tuukka Rask made 29 to lead to Bruins to a victory and give them a 3-2 series lead in Boston. P.K. Subban scored his fourth goal of the postseason. He now leads all defenseman in goals and remains in the top five among all players in points in the playoffs. The Habs look to avoid elimination on Monday in Montreal.

Anaheim Ducks – 2 Los Angeles Kings – 0 (Series tied 2-2)

*John Gibson recorded a 28-save shutout in his NHL playoff debut, marking the first time a goalie has recorded a shutout in their playoff debut, to help the Ducks tie their series against the Kings. Devante Smith-Pelly and Ryan Getzlaf scored for the Ducks, who only managed 14 shots on goal. Anze Kopitar was held without a point for the first time in a game this postseason. The home team has yet to win a game in this series.
