Colorado Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy could add one more award to his mantel later this year as he’s been nominated for the Jack Adams Award, given to the best coach during the season. Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper and Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babock are the other two finalists.
In his first year as an NHL head coach, Roy lead the Avalanche to 52 wins, which tied a franchise record, and the Central Division title. This came one year after Colorado finished last in the Western conference. Colorado became the first team since the 1979 expansion to lead a team from a bottom three finish to a top three finish in one year.
The NHL awards ceremony will be held on June 24th in Las Vegas.
We here at Mile High Sticking would like to congratulate Roy on his nomination.
