Two more second round series kicked off last night as we had another overtime game and the defending NHL Stanley Cup Champions in action.

New York Rangers – 3 Pittsburgh Penguins – 2 (OT) (Rangers lead series 1-0)

*Derick Brassard scored just 3:01 into overtime to help the Rangers defeat the Penguins in Pittsburgh. The Rangers held a 2-0 entering the third, but the Penguins got two goals in the final 20 minutes to force overtime. Henrik Lundqvist made 34 saves in victory.

Minnesota Wild – 2 Chicago Blackhawks – 5 (Blackhawks lead series 1-0)

*The Blackhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead heading into the third, but the Wild tied things up with over half the game remaining. Patrick Kane ensured that overtime would not be needed as he scored two goals in the final 12 minutes to give the Blackhawks the victory. The Chicago power play went 2/4 and Ilya Bryzgalov made just 17 saves on 21 shots.
