Last night we saw a trio of Game 7s and the end of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs first round:
Philadelphia Flyers – 1 New York Rangers – 2 (Rangers win series 4-3)
*One night after losing 5-2 and getting yanked at the end of the game, Henrik Lundqvist proved why he’s one of the best goalies in the league by making 26 saves and helping the Rangers move on to the second round.
Minnesota Wild – 5 Colorado Avalanche – 4 (OT) (Wild win series 4-3)
*The Avalanche blew four one goal leads before Nino Niederreiter scored in overtime to push the Wild past the Avs.
Los Angeles Kings – 4 San Jose Sharks – 1 (Kings win series 4-3)
*The Sharks, who led the series 3-0, scored first, but the Kings scored four straight goals to complete the reverse sweep. Jonathan Quick made 39 saves as the Kings became just the fourth team in history to come back from a 3-0 deficit.
