The NHL has officially suspended Minnesota Wild forward Matt Cooke for seven games for his intentional knee-to-knee hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie in game three. Barrie is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with an MCL injury.
If the Wild are eliminated from the playoffs before Cooke’s suspension is up, he’ll serve the remainder of his suspension at the start of the 2014-2015 season.
