Early, it was reported that Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov had turned himself into police on Wednesday night in relation to domestic violence charges.
Well details have emerged and, according to CBS Denver, the victim’s lawyer, Robert Abrams, has said that the woman claims Varlamov spent Monday afternoon drinking before allegedly throwing her against a wall and stomping on her in a drunken rage.
Multiple reports are saying the victim is Russian model Eugenia Vavrinyuk.
“This time Evie said to us, ‘That’s it, go lock him up’ ” Abrams said. “This girl is 5-foot-3, 100-and-nothing pounds; he’s a 6-foot-2, 210-pound professional athlete. This is a very sizable force approaching you. This is terrifying.”
Obviously, this is awful. Not only because Varlamov allegedly beat up his girlfriend, but because this isn’t the first time. Not only that, a guy who gets drunk during the day that isn’t a college student probably doesn’t have a real good life.
For those wondering: Varlamov could face suspension while this is all being dealt with. It’s unclear if the team will take any action, either. J.S. Giguere will get the start tomorrow night.
