Its amazing how adding a few key pieces that your team was lacking can turn a club around, not only that, but having the goalie you traded a 1st and 2nd round picks for finally starts playing amazing.
Jamie Mcginn and Steve Downie were huge players to bring to the Avs before and on trade deadline. They are playing roles which the Avs didn’t have, which is rough in-your-face hockey.
Teams played the Avs counting on the Avs to be predictable with every play. With McGinn and Downie, teams have no clue what to expect. (Which i think will help the Avs with Vancouver as well)
Steve Downie with the Avs:11 games played, 2 Goals 9 assists
Jamie Mcginn with the Avs: 8 Games played, 7 Goals 2 Assists
Those are Beautiful Numbers, Imagine 82 games played with those 2 in the lineup next season.
It might be safe to say they are playing pissed off because they were traded, but i believe they found a real home with the Avs, and hopefully they play the same next season.
Avs have 10 games remaining on the season starting tonight against the Devils. With many teams on their tail, every game is a must win. It also wouldn’t hurt for LA, SJ and Calgary to lose some games.
