What Does 2012 Have In Store For The Avs?

Matt Duchene is out for 4 weeks +, with a knee injury he took in the game against the Coyotes the other night in the first period. And what a worse time to lose one of our star players.

The Avs are playing 12 games the month of January, and only one of those games is against the East. Not only are 11/12 games against the west, but they are against the tough teams in the west. Meaning that this month will be the reason the Avs make the Playoffs or end up looking like the team that played the 2nd half of the season last year.

Heres what we have to look forward to.

Los Angeles Kings x2, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators x2, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Phoenix Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild and the Edmonton Oilers.

At least we don’t have For sure losses against Calgary and Vancouver this month.. PHEW….

David Jones has been activated again, and will really need to be one of the guys that steps up his game to the next level.

That being said. I read today that the Avs are looking to be buyers at the Trade Deadline, but that really depends on if there’s a chance for the playoffs or not. If the Avs can finish off this month on the winning side and still be over 500 sitting in a playoff spot and maintain that until trade deadline, they will be buyers. If not they wont do anything but finish the season and regroup for next season.

Another thing Avs fans. Having Duchene out mean’s he will not most likely be on the All-star team.. So get on www.nhl.com and find the all star ballot and vote for your favorite Avs players. We need someone to represent.

So here ends my last Blog of 2011. Thank you all for reading, i’ve had fun.

Here’s to 2012. May you all stay happy and healthy.
