Tonight is a matchup against two young teams full of potential in the Oilers and Avalanche. One comes in with a 12-8-2 record while the other one has struggled of late to a 9-12-1 record. I would like to find one Avalanche fan who would guess the Avalanche would be the struggling team of these two. Edmonton has ridden great starts from Ryan Smyth and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and equally as impressive starts from Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall, which has them in the early playoff hunt.
The Avalanche on the other hand have been dealing with an often anemic offense and, when Varlamov starts, poor goaltending, although he looked considerably better against Vancouver. The Avalanche are lacking consistency in all area. Offense, Defense, Goaltending, and Coaching have all struggled to find a consistent game plan. If the Avalanche continue this slide look for changes to be made after the home stand. Also make sure to be on the lookout for Stefan Elliott who will likely be making his debut tonight.
Follow the break for Today’s Game Day Song or check out Oil on Whyte to see their prediction of the Oilers taking it to the Avs tonight.
The Avalanche need to get on track with the remaining 5 games of this home stand. To do this they need to fight and play hard. Today’s song is Alive and Kicking from Nonpoint.
