After the first dramatic come from behind victory of the year, and Gabriel Landeskog’s first career NHL goal, the Avalanche look to keep their winning streak alive. The goaltender for the Senators today is of course ex-Avalanche goalie Craig Anderson. Anderson had a phenomenal season in 2009-2010, carrying the Avs into the playoffs. Then last season Anderson didn’t seem to have the drive and the Avalanche unloaded him straight up for Brian Elliott. There were many reasons the Avs were bad last season, but personally I like blaming Andy. That is why today’s game day song is “I Blame You” from Evans Blue.
Last season the Avalanche and Ottawa played each other one time and the result was:
12/17/10: Ottawa 5 Colorado 6 (OT)
In last seasons game five Avalanche players posted two points. They were Matt Duchene, John-Michael Liles, Kevin Shattenkirk, Philippe Dupuis, and Kevin Porter. Only one of those guys, Matt Duchene, will be in the lineup tonight. The Avs have struggled offensively over these first three games and this could be the game were the shake off the slow start. Although don’t be surprised if Craig Anderson sudenly becomes a shut down goalie. Hopefully J.S. Giguere in his first regular season start with the Avs is as good as Varly has been over the first three contest.
