Around The League In 30 Days: Carolina Hurricanes

Today the FanSided network brings to you the 30 in 30 of the Carolina Skinners. Oh I’m sorry they are called the Hurricanes? With all the talk of young Jeff Skinner you would almost never know.

Former Avalanche fan favorite Chris Durno now calls Carolina home, or at least their AHL affiliate.

Speaking of the young star in the making here is what KP Kelly has to say about him:

I wouldn’t be known as the coug that stalks Jeff Skinner if I didn’t mark the rookiesophomore as the number one reason we will make the playoffs this year. Biased, yes, but have no doubt the Calder Memorial Trophy winner make a huge impact this season. Skinner showed no signs of an upcoming slump in his freshman year. He will make 30+ goals. He will come be key in those games we are fighting for a win. He will be our Frodo…our Lord of the Ring, er…Cup.

The rest from Cardiac Cane can be seen here. I would also like to note in this post it mentions ESPN warning that Skinner may have a down season. Since when does ESPN talk/know/understand hockey?

The Hurricanes and Avalanche will only meet one this season, February 2nd in Colorado, but Avalanche fans should keep an eye on a few young exciting players on Carolina. Skinner is not alone as a young gun on Carolina they also have Zach Boychuk, Brandon Sutter, Jared Staal, Riley Nash, Brett Sutter, and  slightly older “young guns” Eric Staal and Anthony Stewart. BTW with two related Sutters and Staals what is the chance they don’t go after former Avs Chris Stewart and Johnny Boychuk?

Check back tomorrow for the Blackhawks preview. Check out their FanSided page at Blackhawk Up.
