Avs Re-Sign Galiardi; Updated Look At Cap

Today the Avalanche have officially brought back T.J. Galiardi on a 1-way one year deal worth 700K. If the money seems surprisingly low that’s because for the Avalanche it is. Usually the Avalanche will throw a few extra grand on top of a contract to assist in reaching the cap floor but this was not done with T.J. In fact Galiardi received the absolute minimum contract he could’ve received by have his contract increase by 110%. The Avalanche also announced the signing of another player who is likely to be a LEM leader this season, Patrick Rissmiller, who spent 43 games with LE last season accumulating 30 points.

Now for my own expected cap hits:

  • Kyle Cumiskey- 750,000
  • Stefan Elliott- 843,333 (known)
  • Joey Hishon- 1,200,000 (known)
  • Gabriel Landeskog- 3,500,000
  • Total= 6,293,333

This additional hits to the cap would but the Avalanche $3 million over the cap so it is safe to say the team we see now is the team we will be seeing come October.
