Why he fits on the Avalanche: Oleksiak was actually the player I selected for the Avalanche with the 11th pick in the FanSided mock draft, he also went 11th to the Avs in the SB Nation draft (my pick was made way before haha) and depending on how the draft pans out this selection would not be a huge surprise. If the Avalanche select Huberdeau or Landeskog with the 2nd pick and Siemens is gone at 11 the Avalanche will probably have to choose between another winger such as Zibanejad or Oleksiak. Oleksiak presents the Avalanche with some unprecedented size from someone who still can’t legally drink in the United States. Although not the franchise defender Larsson has the potential to be Oleksiak sizes up, pun totally intended, as a defenseman with a ton of upside.

Why he doesn’t fit on the Avalanche: The Avalanche are looking for a defensive defenseman who can give the a shutdown pairing with the young Erik Johnson but it is very doubtful Oleksiak has that skill. Although he possesses Zdeno Chara-like size both his offensive AND defensive skills are not jaw dropping at this point in his young career. If he can polish his defensive game a bit he will probably be a force but what scouts see now leaves Oleksiak in the middle of the pack.

Where he ends up: 16-20
