Why he fits on the Avalanche: Mika Zibanejad is a special young man. His intensity on the ice is hard to match and as Avalanche fans know intensity is one place the team seems to lack at times. He plays a very explosive two way game and can add a lot to an Avalanche powerplay and penalty kill, which has struggled in recent seasons. Maybe most intriguing are the comparisons to Jarome Ignila. Avalanche fans have become all to familiar with Iginla since he has hurt the Avs for years as a member of the Calgary Flames. I have wanted Iginla for years and my hope with former Avs youngster Chris Stewart was he would reach Iginla levels. I look for Mika to be on the Avalanche radar for their 11th pick, especially if they select Larsson with the #2 pick.

Why he doesn’t fit on the Avalanche: Although Zibanejad beholds many skills the young Avalanche are lacking his position does cause me to question where he fits. Although the Avalanche are weak at both wing spots they are in desperate need of a left wing and Ziba is a center who can slot to the right wing position. If he is the best player available when the Avalanche select at 11 and the Avalanche have not selected an offensive player previously my money is on the Avalanche grabbing him.

Where he ends up: 9-13
