For years Avalanche fans have been waiting to see what a healthy David Jones can bring to the team and this season the Doctor gave a very well put answer. In a season full of dark spots David Jones was a consistent bright spot. He was never the worst player on the ice for the Avalanche and even when the team played poorly he maintained his abilities. He has shown himself to be, when healthy, one of the best scorers the Avalanche have.
Stay or Leave? Stay @ 2 yr 2 million per year.
When looking at the contract the Avalanche gave Chris Stewart after his breakout season last year you can decipher a bit on what the Avalanche will give to Jones. He put up pretty good numbers on a bad squad and one could only assume those numbers will get better if the team improves. Jones’s assist numbers remained low this past season so I’m still hesitant to give him a contract in the 2 year 5 range and considering he is already going on 27 he will need to show he can stay healthy for two straight seasons and continue to make an impact.
