March 31st Water Cooler Chatter: Play Ball!

Avalanche + Baseball= The no longer existing Salem Avalanche (

Today is opening day in the MLB! Although many hockey fans are not the biggest baseball fans I’m a lover of all sports, and a HUGE Yankee fan. Since I just watched the Yanks close out their first game with a 6-3 victory I’m in a pretty good mood. Unfortunately for me the Avalanche will likely kill this mood later tonight. Especially if their game tonight starts to get late early as Yogi Berra would say.

Here are your links for Thursday March 31st:

-Yesterday they gave you the Frozen four Goalies today The College Hockey Blog brings us the Frozen Four Preview: Defensemen

-There a winner in the Da Costa sweepstakes as The College Hockey Blog details us on Ottawa getting a gem.

-A look by SB Nation at the current playoff picture.

-Close to clinching a playoff spot, the Lightning have received more good news as it seems Ryan Malone will be making his return. via/ SB Nation

-A third from SB Nation: NHL Scores And More

-Although the Avalanche are done Matt Duchene still has the passion as he tells The Denver Post he wants 30 goals. The article also notes that Foote and Wilson are out tonight and Gaunce has been recalled, again.

-Some Anaheim drama with Bobby Ryan getting kneed and Ryan Getzlaf hiding pucks. via Puck Daddy

-No Avs on Puck Daddy’s 10 most disappointing fantasy players of the year but shocker Wojtek Wolski is #7.

-This has got to be one of my favorite articles of all time as Nick Ghanbarian talks hockey with The bassist of one of my favorite bands, Bayside, he talks about his support of the Rangers but anytime you mix music with hockey great things happen.

-Make sure to check out the Predators on Fansided at Predlines and on twitter @Predlines.
