Duchene Flies – Avs Win OT Thriller

I can’t believe this game no no, this TEAM.

Just when you think they’re down and out, and you’re ready to switch the channel to Home Alone, boom, they shock the hell out of you-again.

I really thought they were going to grind these bitches down tonight. These bitches being the Senators. They came out pretty flat, Andy didn’t look sharp, (Elliott didn’t either) and that was through the entire game.

I read a tweet tonight that maybe the injuries had caught up to them. This might be true. Yes they got Galiardi back, but Stastny and Hejduk on the shelf (word is both might be back for sunday) Now stop me if you’ve heard this one before but..Duchene has put this team on his back in the wake of these injuries, and I think has emerged as a leader. We’re not sure what he says in the room (psst..HBO..over here) but he’s definitely stepped up.

I hate to ruin the party, but Matt Hunwick is, at least to this writers eyes, a cheap man’s Scott Hannan with wheels. He must bake on his off days cause his turn over that led to the Senators go-ahead goal, it smelled fresh. I get that the Avs don’t have a physical D-corps, they wheel the puck around and use their speed. Hunwick is fast, but when he gets caught in his own zone, we’re totally screwed. Coach Sacco, please get on him, show that no player, no matter how fresh off a trade, isn’t immune to getting a first class ticket to Chateau Bow Wow.

Quick closing statement. You play like this against the Habs, you’re going to get schooled vont à l’école (pardon my french) Hopefully they’ll get some bodies back.
