Avs Continue Slide - Drop Another in Florida

Hey fellow Avs fans, MHS rookie Jaye here, from all the way up in Vancouver. I’ll bring you my take on our boys in burgundy. Check out more about yours truly in the ‘About’ section.

I remember way back, just after the Avs had just beat the Wild quite handily. I took a glance at the schedule and said “look at these games, there’s no way we should come out of this with anything less than 6 points, Carolina? c’mon easy W. Florida, cake walk, Tampa might be a problem, but we got this”.

Was I wrong. Really Wrong.

The Avs dropped another tonight, against those same ‘cake walk’ Panthers. This game wasn’t on TV. I didn’t think they blacked out games anymore..or was this a Versus screw up? whatever it was, I had to rely on tweets and mobile updates.

This one is going to be in point we go..

. Stephen Weiss has our number. 2 tonight, including the OT winner.

. Kyle Quincey registered his FIRST point tonight, an assist on Matt Duchene’s goal. Hopefully this is the start of the Old Quincey who rocked opposing players and launched rockets from the blue.

.  Speaking of Matt Duchene, he is turning into an absolute beast. Dutch got tonight’s third star of the game, and now has 6 goals in 7 games. If one player has stepped up HUGE  since Chris Stewart’s injury, it’s been Duchene.

. The boys really need to tighten up defensively when they have a lead, obviously we’ve got some new faces learning the system, but maybe it’s time to bring Jonas Holos back up?

The Avs have gone 1-4-2 in their last 7, my question to Avs fans is..are we or should we be in panic mode?

Next game is Friday against the Thrashers, doesn’t get any easier from there as they go back to back against Washington Saturday night. Lets hope they bring something more to the table.
