Here are some videos of former Avs-great Valeri Kamensky. The tandem of Forsberg-Kamensky was really something to watch in the late 90′s.

USA, Stastny Take Home Silver

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: None Yet

Hello fellow Avs fans, Feels like I haven’t blogged in a month! I enjoyed that Olympic break, and I’m sure many of our players enjoyed the break as well! This tournament offered some of the most exciting hockey you’ll find outside of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The final, one that was highly unlikely, and one that I dreamed would come true, was a veritable All-Star game – with PASSION! It was easily one of the most exciting games I’ve seen all year, and one that lived up to all expectations. Zach Parise’s goal was clutch for USA with only 24 [...]

Avs Enter Much Needed Olympic Break

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: None Yet

After a lethargic 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, the Colorado Avalanche are surely looking forward to this two week NHL break for the Olympics. This team has all the ingredients that are typical of one that is likely to burn out as the season moves along. Our team is made up of an unusual amount of rookies, who, in most cases, aren’t really prepared for the grueling 82-game season that is the NHL. In the case of college players like Brandon Yip, they’ll generally only about half that amount. Add to that the fact that Craig Anderson has [...]

Interview With Brandon Yip

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: None Yet

Here’s an interview I found with Avs rookie Brandon Yip, written by Sean Leahy. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Puck-Daddy-chats-with-Brandon-Yip-about-life-as-?urn=nhl,218412 Interesting to hear those things about Darcy Tucker. Who would’ve thought he’d have such a positive impact on our young guys’ development. Almost makes me sad to see him go when we boot him after his contract is done this season.

Cumiskey Scores a Beauty in OT

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: None Yet

Check out this overtime winner from Kyle Cumiskey against the Atlanta Thrashers. The guy split the defense and made them look like idiots, earning a win for the Avs just 9 seconds into the extra period. Fastest time in franchise history!

Avs Aim for 1st Before Olympic Break

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: None Yet

There’s nothing like playing the worst team in the league to bring your players out of a slump. Despite my protests to let Peter Budaj play this game to give Craig Anderson a break, the Avs stayed with the starter, and he awarded them with another shutout. This marks his 6th shutout of the season and 3rd against the Edmonton Oilers. That’s the last time I question Anderson’s endurance. Though it wasn’t like Anderson stole this game, considering the Avs outshot the Oilers 42-20, he did make some key saves when Edmonton goalie Drouin-Deslauriers refused to crack. I called Wojtek [...]

Avs Dealt 3rd Consecutive Loss by the New York Gaboriks

AUTHOR: | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

In a game that featured the two biggest free agent acquisitions of last summer, the New York Gaboriks, er, Rangers, played like a desperate team, while the Colorado Avalanche find themselves a team that needs to desperately start playing. Marian Gaborik embarrassed Craig Anderson while Chad Johnson shut down the rest of the Avs as the Rangers skated to a 3-1 victory. This had better be a turning point for this young Colorado team. They’re in the toughest stretch of the year and they’re losing ground – fast. You wonder if the long season is finally starting to catch up [...]
