The Colorado Avalanche’s habit of playing poorly against its division rivals this season continued with a pathetic 1-0 snoozefest against the Minnesota Wild Wednesday night. After a night like this there has to be one big question on all Avaholics’ minds:
Have you ever seen a player get so many unlucky breaks as Matt Duchene has had this season?
How many pucks have come off his stick that have either banged off a post or hit the back of the net, only to be waived off by a referee? Whether Duchene accidently broke the mirror in his hotel room prior to the [...]

Wild Beat Avs Soccer Style, 1-0
After losing a close, not-reflective-of-the-score matchup against the Pittsburgh Crosbies, the Colorado Avalanche played an intriguing game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Despite some late chaos and controversy, the Avs pulled out of Ohio with a 3-2 win.
Tonight against the St. Louis Blues, the Avs turned to Peter Budaj once again to backstop them on this road trip. Thank that D Bag in Florida for hurting Craig Anderson, who is still out with a neck injury.
Budaj made the most of his opportunity as he stopped 35 shots, including 17 in the 3rd period, en route to his first [...]

The Colorado Avalanche, on the other hand, certainly did not have that problem. In the offseason, Colorado picked up Anderson on the first day of free agency, and he has been the team’s undisputed MVP ever since.
There’s no question that Anderson is happier now than he was in Florida, but I wonder if watching the Panthers’ most recent problems have only further confirmed his decision to seek greener, more opportunistic pastures. He’s [...]
Last night felt like we went back in time about a month or so ago. This team was aggressive, smart, and when they weren’t, the goalie stood on his head. Yup, these are the Colorado Avalanche who started the season 10-1-2. Rookie phenom Matt Duchene scored two goals, Wojtek Wolski added an empty-netter, and Anderson made 33 saves in a dominant 3-0 rout of a young Tampa Bay Lightning squad (BoltsByTheBay.com).
Duchene has really found his game in the NHL recently. He now has seven points in his last seven games, and 3 goals in his last two. As he has [...]
