Wild Beat Avs Soccer Style, 1-0

AUTHOR: Jake Bennett | IN: Avalanche | COMMENTS: None Yet |

The Colorado Avalanche’s habit of playing poorly against its division rivals this season continued with a pathetic 1-0 snoozefest against the Minnesota Wild Wednesday night. After a night like this there has to be one big question on all Avaholics’ minds:

Have you ever seen a player get so many unlucky breaks as Matt Duchene has had this season?

How many pucks have come off his stick that have either banged off a post or hit the back of the net, only to be waived off by a referee? Whether Duchene accidently broke the mirror in his hotel room prior to the start of training camp or if it’s a league-wide conspiracy in which the refs, posts and pucks are all in on it is yet to be seen, but I’m gonna start keeping an eye on the spending habits of official NHL pucks from now on. It’s really getting ridiculous for this poor kid.

Congrats to Budaj again for another strong outing. Besides a rebound goal scored off an Andrew Brunette shot early in the first period, Budaj was a brick wall.

Beyond that, not a whole lot of positives to take from this game except for the fact that it is over. In the last 15 regular season games we’ve played against the Wild, we’ve only beaten them 3 times – only one of which happened in regulation. If we ever want a chance at the division title or even playoffs, our record against division opponents NEEDS to improve.
