Confirmed: Teens to Stay; Stewart Reassigned

Good news for two young Colorado Avalanche centers has been followed by disappointment for another young forward. Avs head coach Joe Sacco announced today Matt Duchene and Ryan O’Reilly would not be sent down to their respective minor league teams and would remain on the Avalanche roster.
A few hours later, the team announced former 1st round draft pick Chris Stewart is being reassigned to the Avs’ AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

Duchene to Stay; O’Reilly Likely

In a move that surprised nobody, the Colorado Avalanche have decided to keep Matt Duchene for the whole year, opting not to send him back to his junior squad, the Brampton Battalion, according to The Denver Post.
The Avs have not officially made the announcement yet but we can expect one soon since the cut-off for the 9 game rookie tryout ends on Wednesday.

Avs Beat Red Wings in SO; Duchene Notches First

What an incredible topic for a first post!
After being dominated for two periods, the Colorado Avalanche were given a shot of life in the 3rd period courtesy of Cody McLeod and its two teenagers, Ryan O’Reilly and Matt Duchene. McLeod scored two goals, both of which were set up by beautiful passes from O’Reilly, and Duchene scored his 1st NHL goal in a 4-3 shootout victory against the struggling Detroit Red Wings.
Duchene’s eerily Sakic-esque wrist shot flew past Red Wings’ goaltender Chris Osgood to tie the game 2-2 in the 3rd period, a goal that surely must taste even sweeter [...]
